So much for delectable irony.
I'm guessing Robert E. Lee, because I think some people might have wanted him to serve the North but he was loyal to his home state.
SA is closest, but he chose the wrong side. It's someone from the north. He is also famous for a speech given to some army college (I forget which one) where he went on and on about how war is hell.
