Libertarians

The problem with libertarians is that they deny a connection between personal virtue and the public good.

...And therefore it is not the business of the state to encourage personal virtue. Is that the idea?

Yeah, but I see it working the other way too. I would argue that a state depends upon the virtue of its citizens, and therefore a state that permits every sort of vice is a state that will not be a state for very long.
